How To Change Fuel Filter

Replacing fuel filter will be very cumbersome if you do not know how to do it. The following are the five easy steps to replace fuel filter.

Things you will Need:

  • General Tools (screw drivers, wrench, pliers)
  • Safety glasses
  • Replacement filter
  • Clean up rags

Step1

The first thing to do is to put on the safety glasses. Next you're going to have to locate where the old fuel filter is. (It may be located under the car near the fuel tank, varies by the car)

Step2

Once you locate where the fuel filter is, unscrew the screws that hold together the hose and clamp. Don't unscrew all the way, only unscrew until the nut is real loose.

Step3

Once that's done, hold the hose and remove the clamp. Slowly remove the old filter and set aside. Be sure to put some rags down for the fuel that might leak out.

Step4

Grab the new filter and secure it in place. Press the clamps back on and screw the screws back in until secure.

Step5

The last thing to do is to turn the car on and run the engine for awhile. After about 5 minutes look under the car and see if the filter is leaking. If it is, that means you have to tighten it more.
